Greetings:………………………………………….…Lorri B.

Announcements:………………………………………..Lorri B.

Call to Worship:…………………………………………Robin C.
We meet in different buildings; in different towns.
We speak different languages and sing different hymns.
We wear different clothing and have different gifts and talents.
Yet, as we gather together for worship on Sundays,
we become one body, one family in Christ.
We join together on one journey,
the journey to unite with the Risen Christ.
We join together with God as the Kingdom of God comes
and as God’s will is done.
Let us join with all our brothers and sisters in worship
and true communion with God this day.  Amen.

Opening Prayer: ……………………………….…Robin C.
Jesus Christ, Lord of the Church: we rejoice that you have formed your people into one body comprised of believers of every race and nation.  Your salvation has reached to the ends of the earth and to all generations.  We praise and thank you that your gospel has reached us and that our voices will join those of many languages this day to proclaim your praise.  Accept our praise, purify our hearts, instruct us in your word, feed us at your table, and visit us with your Spirit that we may follow in the ways of faith, to the glory of God the Father.  Amen.

Opening Hymns:“In Christ There Is No East or West” #548 UMH

1. In Christ there is no east or west, in him no south
or north; but one great fellowship of love throughout
the whole wide earth.

2. In Christ shall true hearts everywhere their high
communion find; his service is the golden cord close
binding humankind.

3. In Christ is neither Jew nor Greek, and neither slave
nor free; both male and female heirs are made, and
all are kin to me.

4. In Christ now meet both east and west, in him meet
south and north; all Christly souls are one in him
throughout the whole wide earth.

“Become to Us the Living Bread” #630 UMH

1. Become to us the living bread by which Christian
life is fed, renewed, and greatly comforted:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

2. Become the never fainting wine, the spring of joy that
shall incline our hearts to bear the covenant sign:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

3. May Christians all with one accord unite around the
sacred board to praise your holy name, O Lord:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Old Testament Lesson:.Exodus 20:1-4, 7-9, 12-20…Robin C.

The commandments at Sinai

Then God spoke all these words,
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me.
“You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth.
“You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.
“Remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work.
“Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
“You shall not murder.
“You shall not commit adultery.
“You shall not steal.
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female slave, ox, donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
When all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking, they were afraid and trembled and stood at a distance and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen, but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.” Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid, for God has come only to test you and to put the fear of him upon you so that you do not sin.”

Hymn of Preparation:“In the Midst of New Dimensions” #2238 TFWS

1. In the midst of new dimensions,
in the face of changing ways,
who will lead the pilgrim peoples
wandering in their separate ways?

God of rainbow, fiery pillar,
leading where the eagles soar,
we your people, ours the journey
now and ever, now and ever, now and evermore.

2. Through the flood of starving people,
warring factions and despair,
who will lift the olive branches?
Who will light the flame of care?

God of rainbow, fiery pillar,
leading where the eagles soar,
we your people, ours the journey
now and ever, now and ever, now and evermore.

3. As we stand a world divided
by our own self-seeking schemes,
grant that we, your global village,
might envision wider dreams.

God of rainbow, fiery pillar,
leading where the eagles soar,
we your people, ours the journey
now and ever, now and ever, now and evermore.

4. We are man and we are woman,
all persuasions, old and young,
each a gift in your creation,
each a love song to be sung.

God of rainbow, fiery pillar,
leading where the eagles soar,
we your people, ours the journey
now and ever, now and ever, now and evermore.

5. Should the threats of dire predictions
cause us to withdraw in pain,
may your blazing phoenix spirit
resurrect the church again.

God of rainbow, fiery pillar,
leading where the eagles soar,
we your people, ours the journey
now and ever, now and ever, now and evermore.”

CONFESSION & PARDON

Pastor Liz: Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
All pray in silence.

Pastor Liz: Hear the good news:
Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
All: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
All:  Glory to God. Amen.

THE PEACE

Let us offer one another signs of reconciliation and love.
All, including the pastor, exchange signs and words of God’s peace by crossing hands, wave to one another due to social distancing guidelines.

Pastor Liz: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Pastor Liz: Lift up your hearts. The pastor may lift hands and keep them raised.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Pastor Liz: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Pastor Liz: And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Pastor Liz: In union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
All: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Pastor Liz: All honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, now and forever.
All: Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

let us break bread together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees, with my face to the rising sun,

let us drink wine together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

3. Let us praise God together on our knees,
let us praise God together on our knees.

O Lord, have mercy on me.
